The Seer Stone – Hazel Menehira (2009)
The Seer Stone portrays the triumph of hope, love
and family loyalty over adversity and tragedy.
It travels from the sinking of the excursion
steamer the Princess Alice on the River Thames
on 3 September 1978, to New Zealand’s smaller
paddle wheel vessels on the Whanganui River
and the brave little cheese boats of Patea.
These pages span more than a century as they entwine
the lives of four generations of a resilient London East End
family. A diamond gemstone retrieved from the silt is the
catalyst for the mission to find its rightful heritage.
